Marketplace Sellers

We have criteria in place when items are sold by third party sellers, mostly called Marketplace sellers by retailers such as Amazon and eBay.

Last updated on 24 Jun, 2026

We don't expect all members to be experts and the Community Support team review every deal, voucher and discussion and check if a marketplace seller is suitable, however we have included some brief guidance below, should you wish to check sellers suitability yourself.

Please note if a seller is already approved on Hotukdeals and has a marketplace store, we are not required to check their suitability if this is the official store. For example, Currys eBay store here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/currysclearance

Amazon

These are typically know as Amazon Marketplace sellers.

If an item is dispatched by Amazon (Typically referred to as FBA, Fulfilled by Amazon), generally no further checks are needed such as their feedback score and ratings as customer service issues are handled by Amazon. Occasionally we may review an item, even FBA to be unsuitable such as counterfeit items.

Sold & dispatched by a marketplace seller

If an item is sold and dispatched by a marketplace seller, we have some extra checks including their feedback and reviews.

The marketplace seller listing must be from a UK-based business with 300+ ratings in the last 12 months and a seller rating of 90% or higher. UK contact information must be provided on the seller’s profile page.

In the example below from seller Spreetail. we can see this is sold and dispatched by this seller, so we would review their feedback and if they are UK based.

Clicking on the sellers name, will bring up their reviews and details. For this example, this can be found here.

Screenshot 2026-06-24 at 12.29.19.png

This example shows that this seller would be permitted as they have more than 300 reviews in the last 12 months, a score 90% or higher and detailed contact information.

eBay

For eBay sellers, we look at the following criteria to check the sellers suitability -

UK-based business seller with feedback of 300+ within a 12 month period with a minimum score of no less than 90%. We will also accept 6 months of trading only when the seller has at least 1,000 feedback in total.

In the following example, which can be found here - https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/apple-macbook-air-2025-m4-16gb256gb-136-laptop-starlight-open-box-wcode-sold-by-cheapest-electrical-4896290 , the seller of the item is Cheapest Electrical. The eBay listing shows the seller as indicated in the circled section below -

Clicking the linked sellers name should take you to the following page - https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/cheapestelectrical

The 'About' section will show you if the seller is a registered business or Private seller as shown below -

Finally the feedback tab, will show you the number of reviews in the last 12 months and their feedback score.

Screenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.05.09.png

In this example, as the seller is a UK registered business and has a 99.8% feedback rating (Above 90%) and 49,931 reviews (Above 300), they would be suitable for listing.

Please note if you see "Private', this means the seller is not a registered business, rather an individual seller and therefore not suitable for Hotukdeals, as shown below -

Aliexpress

For Aliexpress deals we have the following criteria when checking if an seller is suitable for listing -

AliExpress: 1+ year of trading, 300+ feedback, and a minimum 90% score. (Choice Seller, Big Save Seller, Brand+ & Local+ listings exempt)

The sellers on Aliexpress are usually located in the top right hand side of the items listing, as shown below.

If the seller displays any of the 4 following icons, we don't need to check any further requirements -

Screenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.17.18.pngScreenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.18.14.pngScreenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.18.47.pngScreenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.34.19.png

If they don't display any of these icons, we do need to look a little more at the seller.

1+ year of trading, 300+ feedback, and a minimum 90% score.

In the following linked example - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008534485299.html

The seller's information can be found on the top right hand side of the listing.

Screenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.42.08.png

Clicking the sellers name, should take you to the sellers (RouteSync Franchised Store) information here - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1104567327

Hoovering over the store name will display how long the seller has traded for, in this case over a year at the time this was posted.

Screenshot 2026-05-24 at 10.43.55.png

Clicking through to the sellers feedback, should take you to this page - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1104567327/pages/feedback.html which displays the sellers feedback. As they have 98% positive (Above 90%) and 658 reviews (Above 300), they would be suitable for Hotukdeals.

Please note, occasionally there may be issues displaying the sellers information, in this case please contact the community support if you are unsure of the sellers suitability.
