Our priority has always been to provide an excellent user experience, high quality content, and a thriving community while keeping our platform free and accessible.
Historically, we've relied primarily on affiliate partnerships, earning a small commission when members shop with our partners. While this has served us well, depending heavily on a single revenue source, especially one dominated by a few large merchants creates risks.
To ensure long term sustainability, we're diversifying our revenue streams. This will help us continue investing in the platform, improve the user experience, and support initiatives such as our Loyalty and Creator Programs.
We know advertising can be disruptive, so we've introduced it carefully: ads are clearly labelled and we won't use intrusive formats such as site takeover ads.
We've also reduced the impact for our most engaged members. Logged in users will see fewer ads, and members who have reached any Loyalty Program tier won't see any ads at all. Reaching the first tier requires just one hot deal post or one comment with three helpful reactions within the past 12 months.
Inappropriate Adverts
We want our community to be safe and suitable for all members and we have safeguards in place to prevent unsuitable adverts appearing, however occasionally some may slip through our filters.
You can report adverts which you feel are unsuitable to us for review. There is a "Report' option located at the top of adverts, with a flag icon, as shown below.

When reporting an advert, you will be asked the reason for this report and you can select one of the following options:
Redirected me to another site
Automatic sound (no click)
Overlapped page content
Inappropriate / offensive / sexual
Slowed or froze the page
Other problem

Currently this is only available on Android devices using the app, but the report function will be rolled out to iOS and Desktop shortly.
